Who is Q?

About me.  Why is this so difficult?  Seems like I should know more about myself than anyone else…and yet.  I am at a loss…

I received my nickname of “Q” a few years ago when I was still working in corporate America.  There were So. Many. Women. Named. JENNIFER.  My co-worker dubbed me “Q” for my last name of Quinn.  I wasn’t sure I liked it at first until she told me it was the name of an agent in the Bond Movies.  Evidently “Agent Q” was the “go-to-make-everything-happen” character.  Being a self- (and other) proclaimed overachiever, I LOVED IT!

My Twitter handle is @JennyQ.  The irony is no one calls me Jenny.  Never has.  My mom made sure of that in 5th grade when we had two Jennifers and the teacher asked for a volunteer to go by Jenny.  I was down with that.  When I told my mother, she said I had to go back to Mrs. Allen and tell her I was not to be called Jenny.  “I named  you Jennifer because it is a beautiful name and no one is going to shorten it!”  Yea.  You and a million other mothers.  It’s a great name, don’t get me wrong — but it is overplayed like a bad Katy Perry song.  (oh, don’t get me started…)

So, where did JennyQ come from you ask?  My dear hubby Jon calls me JennyQ and I LOVE it.  So, that is what I used for my Twitter handle.  And there you have it.

Thanks Q! A great story. I like your writing it’s fun and casual. Would like to continue to connect and maybe work together. It has not been easy for me to transition from old school to social media, but it’s coming little by little. Reading your blog gives me inspiration to let my hair down and just talk it out. Continued success to you, Q and Jon :-)  Be well.
